This form of individual support seeks to encourage students to achieve negotiated targets with the help of mentors.
Times for meetings are flexible, arranged between the mentor, mentee and school / college. Full training is given, with continuing support, access to the mentoring network, newsletters and telephone hotline. Mentors are usually linked up with 1 – 3 students and may meet on a one-to-one basis, or a mentor may meet with a small group of mentees – whichever arrangements best suit needs and individual circumstances.
The EBP provides support materials that are constantly being evaluated and updated and offers further support for mentors and mentees alike.
Through regular meetings, students and mentors build a
relationship based on impartiality, trust and respect, which leads to students gaining increased self-esteem, academic performance and awareness of the world of work.
