1. Enterprise Education workshops & challenges |
The Davies Review defines enterprise activity as “... the capability to handle uncertainty and respond positively to change, to create and implement new ideas and new ways of doing things, to make reasonable risk / reward assessments and act upon them in one’s personal and working life.”
EBP enterprise activities provide students with challenges that promote skills in problem-solving, team membership and leadership, initiative, adaptability, risk taking and decision-making. In developing these skills, students gain increased understanding of what processes are involved in the initiation and development of a business enterprise idea; which helps them to develop vision and creativity for their future lives. |
| 2. Work Experience & Employability Skills
work experience briefing |
A Work Placement is an opportunity for young people to gain direct experience of the world of work by spending time with an employer. Young people achieve an understanding of business objectives and teamwork; improve their self-confidence; develop a variety of new skills and experiences; gain an idea of a full adult working day and have the opportunity to use their experiences to make better informed decisions about their future. Employers gain the opportunity to help young people to develop and mature, a possible source of new employees for the future, a closer involvement with local schools and a chance to influence young people’s confidence in gaining employment. |
| 3. Inclusion and Alternative Curriculum
VIP new Sept 07 |
Inclusion programmes provide opportunities for students to succeed and remain engaged in education and / or training. Without this provision, some students would become disaffected, disengaged or NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) or fail to reach their potential. |
| 4. Mentoring Programmes (Staying on Target) |
Mentoring aims to raise the aspirations, confidence, self esteem and achievements of young people. The EBP recruits, trains and supports Mentors who have skills and experiences that they can share for the benefit of young people, and provides a positive influence and role model. The EBP coordinates the programmes, helping to ensure continuity and success. |
